We have recently upgraded our colour proofing system to the GRACoL 2013 standard, this is the latest standard released by GRACoL. The main improvement this upgrade provides is accounting for paper whiteners used in today’s papers and an updated uncoated paper profile.
What will you notice with this change:
- Proofs for jobs printing on coated papers – you may notice a slight improvement from the paper whitener compensation but generally will be like previous version proofs.
- Proofs for jobs printing on uncoated papers – there is significant improvement in the proof to printed sheet match. With uncoated papers there is paper shade variation from lot to lot we receive from the mills. For this reason, the press to proof colour match is not as accurate for uncoated papers as coated papers. But with this upgrade the proofs will represent the printed results better than they have in the past.
- New colour profiles – along with this we will be releasing updated colour profiles on MyBooks and links on our website under customer resource section, “Preparing Your Files For Print”, https://www.friesens.com/books/resources/ to use on projects moving forward. If you are using 2006 GRACoL profiles we ask you to replace the existing 2006 GRACoL profiles with the new 2013 profiles.
